Development of electro acupuncture
(historical review)

27 June 2006 | tokran | The theory of alternative medicine | It is read through (345)

The electro acupuncture method was created as the synthesis of the classical Chinese acupuncture methods and those technical possibilities, that were opened up in XX century. To properly understand the following material, we must from the very beginning clear out those terms, which are necessary in order to understand this subject correctly.

The acupuncture method has been used by Chinese doctors during more than 3000 years. The word-by-word translation of this term is following: „acu“ means „needle“, „puncture“ means „point“, the other term is named „needling“, „stylostixis“. So, electro acupuncture means that this method (both for diagnosis and treatment) is using for its purposes Chinese acupuncture bioactive points, but both for collecting the information, provided by bioactive points and for therapeutic treatment via them specially developed electrodes are used instead of classical Chinese needles.

Classical Chinese acupuncture is widely used in Western countries at the present time, especially popular it is in France, where it is acknowledged as an official medical treatment method and is being studied in several universities. No wonder, that France also became the mother country for electro acupuncture, when dr. De la Fui constructed the first medical device for this particular method and used the term „electro acupuncture“. Dr. De la Fui died in 1956 and his work was continued by such scientific researcher as dr. Niobe, who found out that Chinese acupuncture bioactive points have lower resistance to the constant current, than tissues, surrounding them.

Another scientific researcher, dr. Schmidt found out the interrelation between electric conduct in bioactive points and pathological changes in those particular organs connected with corresponding bioactive points. By the way, it was namely dr. Schmidt, who was the first to discover the phenomenon of the arrow, dropping down in those medical devices.
